Virus Update
We are continuing to receive calls regarding the CryptoLocker and other viruses infecting agencies workstations. While it is important to have the latest version of Trend installed on your workstation and server, you still need to be careful about the attachments you open. Trend can block obvious attacks but some of these viruses are more sophisticated and use employee names or some familiar words in the email. If an email or attachment looks suspicious – DO NOT OPEN IT!
Once the virus attacks a workstation, it can then infect the server if the workstation tries to access a file. Once the machine is infected, it is highly unlikely that any files will be recovered once encrypted.
