ROAM Security Announcement

Acuity Brands Agents and Sales Representatives,
We are pleased to announce upgrades to the ROAM® platform which enhance system security and enable new installations of the product to meet the requirements of California Civil Code Title 1.81.26, Security of Connected Devices, approved under Senate Bill 327 (2018) (“SB-327”). The upgrades consist of:
• Moving ROAM Concierge™ services to the Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This action has been completed.
• Upgrading ROAM Concierge software to enhance user authentication and authorization models and hardening of data communication layer. This action has been completed.
• Redesigning the ROAM gateway to upgrade the hardware, application security and encryption standards. The upgraded gateway is expected to be released for sale in early 2020.
To ensure future ROAM customers receive all the advantages offered by these security upgrades, we are informing you that shipments for all new orders of ROAM gateways will be put on hold until the upgraded gateway is released for sale. Node only orders will not be affected. We understand this will impact in-flight opportunities and will work with you to address specific projects that require a different scheduling approach.
These actions are being taken to provide our customers an up-to-date ROAM platform with robust security features that are compliant with SB-327.
